Gli americani, si sa, amano quelle che vengono chiamate Muscle Car, con un termine che da noi assume a volte connotazioni non proprio positive. Le Muscle Car sono auto (in genere berline a due porte) equipaggiate con potenti motori V8 e vendute a prezzi accessibili, cosa che le differenzia dalle auto sportive, dalle coupé e dalle GT 2+2 tipiche delle nostre latitudini. Una delle più celebri vetture di questa categoria è senza dubbio la Chevrolet Camaro e un privato canadese, Serge Leger, ha deciso di farsene costruire una versione decisamente fuori dal comune.

L’auto così modificata monta sotto il cofano un motore 6.0 LSX V8 con turbocompressore Turbonetics, la cui potenza complessiva supera i 1.419cv (per fare un paragone l’auto da strada più veloce al mondo, la Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, ne ha “solo” 1.200). La coppia massima generata da questo autentico mostro è di 1.219Nm.

Una motore del genere necessita di una lunga e noiosa serie di modifiche tecniche per permettere alla sua potenza mostruosa di scaricarsi a terra senza trasformare auto e guidatore in una nuvola di fumo. Anche il look e l’allestimento degli interni sono stati rinnovati, per adeguare la vettura alle esigenze del committente.

Qui di seguito elenchiamo le modifiche applicate da Camaro5 all’auto in questione. Ci perdonerete di non averle tradotte, ma credo che la lista sia sufficiente per rendere l’idea. Per completare la vettura sono state necessarie 3.800 ore di lavoro, per un prezzo finale di 320.000 dollari.
